Bold frame: A top recruit is stepping back from Auburn as the coaching era shifts. Four-star safety Jaylen Scott, from Williamson High in Mobile, revealed to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman on Tuesday that he has decommitted from Auburn. This moves him from the Tigers’ lone 2027 commit to a prospect weighing options amid a staffing overhaul.
Scott originally flipped to Auburn from Florida State on June 9. With Alex Golesh now leading the program and a new staff arriving on The Plains, Scott is reevaluating his path and exploring other fits.
Auburn remains in play, but multiple programs are entering the race as he nears the end of his junior year. Scott indicates Oklahoma, Tennessee, Missouri, and Michigan are all potential contenders moving forward. He stands at 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, ranked as the No. 151 overall prospect and No. 15 safety in the 2027 cycle by Rivals’ Industry Ranking, and he’s the No. 5 junior in Alabama.
Scott previously described Jordan-Hare Stadium as an electric environment fueled by a passionate fan base. He highlighted Auburn’s rich tradition, storied rivalries, and the close, family-like atmosphere within the program as factors that made Auburn special for him.
The decommitment follows multiple other moves in Auburn’s 2026 class and ongoing adjustments under Golesh. Earlier in the day, three-star athlete Kentrell White decommitted from the Tigers’ 2026 class, and four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone and three-star tackle Nikau Hepi followed suit, while four-star safety Bralan Womack flipped to Mississippi State.
Not long after Hepi’s decommitment, Golesh secured his first Plains commitment: three-star tight end Damarcus Broughton, a former USF pledge. It’s possible more USF recruits could tag along as Golesh shapes his staff on the Plains.
Tuesday’s recruiting updates also included Auburn’s signing-day outlook, with Rivals’ Chad Simmons weighing in on how the Tigers might augment their 2026 class—now ranked No. 69 nationally—and what names could surface during the upcoming signing period.
